What is an AI Assistant?

Think of them like custom GPTs — but built directly into your browser. Each Assistant is a specialist AI persona with its own expertise, rules, and output format. Activate one and your Mr Oye AI becomes that specialist for every conversation on that tab. Switch anytime, or deactivate to go back to default.

How to use AI Assistants — 3 steps

Install Mr Oye
Add the free Chrome extension. Mr Oye appears as a sidebar on every tab.

Open the Assistants panel
Click Mr Oye → Assist tab → Assistants. Browse the 11 specialists.

Activate & chat
Click Activate. Mr Oye becomes that specialist. It reads your current page automatically — just ask.

What "Activate" actually does

Activating an assistant makes all of Mr Oye's conversations on that tab use that specialist's expertise and rules. It stays active through page refreshes until you deactivate it. To go back to default: click Deactivate on the active assistant.

Switching assistants

  1. Open Mr Oye sidebar → Assist tab
  2. Scroll to the Assistants section
  3. Click Activate on a different one
  4. The previous assistant is automatically deactivated
  5. Or click Deactivate to go back to default AI

Works with your AI model

Assistants use whatever AI model you've set up in Mr Oye settings — your own Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini API key, or Mr Oye Pro credits. No extra setup needed. The assistant personality layers on top of your chosen AI.
